A tragic incident occurred in Samarkand region, where a woman ended her life after enduring prolonged abuse and violence from her husband. The case was reported by the "Sukut saqlama (Don't keep silence)" project.

According to court records, the accused, O.Kh., born in 1988, worked as the deputy headmaster of School No. 77. Despite his position, he failed to support his five children, frequently consumed alcohol, and subjected his wife to physical and emotional abuse, often in the presence of their children.

On July 11, 2024, O.Kh. returned home intoxicated, insulted his wife, and beat her severely. Unable to cope with the cruelty, mental torment, and betrayal, the woman took her own life shortly after the incident.

Her daughters discovered her body and woke their father, who was asleep at the time. Realizing what had happened, the husband reportedly attempted artificial respiration after removing her from the noose but failed to revive her. He sought assistance from a neighbor and rushed her to the hospital, where doctors confirmed her death and alerted the authorities.

The woman’s father revealed that she married O.Kh. in 2013, and the couple initially had a peaceful family life. However, over the past three years, O.Kh.’s behavior changed drastically—he became violent, stopped providing financial support, and regularly abused his wife. Despite her attempts to seek a divorce and her temporary relocation to her father’s home, community members and neighbors persuaded her to reconcile. Her husband promised to change, prompting her to return.

A forensic examination revealed numerous severe injuries on the victim's body, including broken ribs, bruises on her neck, head, eyes, shoulders, arms, and back. These injuries were inflicted before her death, highlighting the extent of the violence she endured.

During the trial, O.Kh. confessed to his crimes. On October 29, 2024, the Urgut District Court found him guilty under Article 103 (Inducing a dependent person to commit suicide), Part 2, Clause "a," and Article 126-1, Part 5, Clause "v" (Intentional infliction of serious injury due to domestic violence) of the Criminal Code of Uzbekistan. He was sentenced to 8 years and 6 months in prison.
