In the Bukhara, Kashkadarya, and Namangan regions, the lease period for 73,000 hectares of land, initially leased for 10 years, has been extended to 30 years. This announcement was made today, August 11, during a video conference chaired by President Shavkat Mirziyoyev in Bukhara.

It has been reported that only 15 percent of the land in these regions—Bukhara, Kashkadarya, and Namangan—has been allocated to needy families.

Furthermore, a provision has been made to allow the leasing of 100,000 hectares of vacant pastures, with a minimum requirement of 10 hectares per lease for a period of 10 years. Needy individuals registered under the "Social Protection Register" will be exempted from all land-related payments.

The meeting also disclosed plans to reduce cotton and grain cultivation areas. An additional 70,000 hectares of arable land are set to be distributed among the population during the upcoming fall and spring of this year and the next.

However, it has come to light that the governors have encountered difficulties in effectively managing the allocated 200,000 hectares of land. Approximately 13,000 hectares, constituting 8 percent of the total land, are currently neglected due to inadequate water supply and low productivity.
