Suspects detained in Bukhara for attempting to sell land for $170,000

2752Individuals involved in the illegal sale of two hectares of land for $170,000 have been detained in Bukhara. The operation was carried out by the Bukhara Regional Department of Internal Affairs, according to an official report.
The investigation revealed that a 1960-born resident of Bukhara, in collusion with an acquaintance, attempted to fraudulently obtain $170,000 from another citizen. The suspects promised to arrange ownership of a 0.5-hectare building previously used for gypsum production in the Yangihayot mahalla of Kogon district, as well as 1.5 hectares of reserve land in the same district, to be registered under the buyer’s name in the future.
On March 3 of this year, during an undercover operation, officers from the Bukhara Regional Department of Internal Affairs apprehended one of the suspects while he was receiving $20,000 as an advance payment.
A criminal case has been initiated under Part 4 of Article 168 (Fraud) of the Criminal Code of Uzbekistan. An investigation is currently underway.
As a reminder, a similar case was reported earlier in the Bostanlyk district of the Tashkent region, where individuals were detained for offering to sell 20 acres of land for $230,000.
