Top countries sending students to Uzbekistan

At the start of the 2023-2024 academic year, 10,845 foreign students were enrolled in higher education institutions across Uzbekistan, according to the Statistics Agency.
The distribution of foreign students by country is as follows:
- India: 5,733 students
- Pakistan: 1,358 students
- Turkmenistan: 904 students
- Russia: 750 students
- Kazakhstan: 537 students
- Tajikistan: 285 students
- Kyrgyz Republic: 285 students
- Afghanistan: 196 students
- China: 182 students
- Republic of Korea: 176 students
- Canada: 124 students
- Other countries: 315 students
Previously, it was reported that the majority of Uzbeks emigrating for permanent residence had chosen Kazakhstan, with 82.4 percent of emigrants relocating there.
