Approximately 30 tons of tomatoes imported from Uzbekistan and Turkmenistan to Kazakhstan were returned due to violations of phytosanitary regulations. This information was reported by "Tengrinews," citing the State Control Committee of the Ministry of Agriculture of Kazakhstan.

This year, 15,637,802 tons of tomato products from neighboring countries entered Kazakhstan through phytosanitary control posts in the Turkestan region using 1,075 vehicles. However, 29,522 tons of these tomatoes were sent back to their country of origin due to non-compliance with phytosanitary requirements, such as the absence of a phytosanitary certificate or label.

All batches of tomatoes, eggplants, and peppers imported from other countries were subjected to quarantine phytosanitary examinations (PCR) to detect hidden contamination. As a result, the "brown rot tomato virus" was identified.

A total of 56.1 tons of tomatoes were returned to Turkmenistan and 4.2 tons to Uzbekistan due to contamination.

Additionally, since the beginning of 2024, 497,624 tons of imported products failing to meet phytosanitary standards have been returned to the phytosanitary control points.

It should be noted that apricots sent from Uzbekistan to the Orenburg region of Russia were rejected due to worm infestation.
