The incidence of criminal convictions among youth is highest in Tashkent city and Tashkent region. This was reported yesterday, February 4, at a press conference held at the Supreme Court of the Republic of Uzbekistan by Alisher Usmonov, First Deputy Chairman of the Supreme Court and Chairman of the Criminal Panel.
According to analysis, in 2025, 23,973 young people aged 14–30 were convicted of crimes, with the highest figures recorded in Tashkent city and Tashkent region.
During this period, the most common offenses committed by youth were fraud, traffic accidents, theft, and drug-related crimes.
Among minors aged 14–17, 2,431 individuals were convicted for theft (972), hooliganism (152), robbery (101), moderate bodily harm (73), and other offenses.
From 2023 to 2025, courts considered 128,310 requests for sanctions and enforcement measures. Specifically, 72,425 individuals were considered for pretrial detention. Of these, 2,431 cases (3.3 percent) were denied. The annual breakdown is as follows:
- 2023: 22,135 requests, 577 denied (2.6 percent)
- 2024: 25,569 requests, 593 denied (2.3 percent)
- 2025: 24,721 requests, 1,261 denied (5.1 percent)
It is worth noting that earlier reports indicated that courts in 2025 handled more than 4 million cases and that nearly 422 people were acquitted.
