How many men are convicted of polygamy in Uzbekistan?

During the first six months of this year, four citizens were convicted of polygamy in Uzbekistan. The Spokesman of the Supreme Court, Aziz Obidov, provided this information.

He stated that between the years 2018 and 2022, 34 individuals were convicted of committing the crime outlined in Article 126 (polygamy) of the Criminal Code and received appropriate punishments.

According to Article 126 of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Uzbekistan, polygamy, which is living as a married couple with two or more wives on the basis of common livelihood, is punishable by a fine ranging from fifty to one hundred times the base calculation amount, or correctional work for up to three years, or imprisonment for one to three years.
