Number of full-time students in Uzbekistan reaches all-time high

11982The number of full-time students enrolled in higher education institutions in Uzbekistan has increased 2.7 times over the past decade, according to data released by the National Statistics Committee.
As of the beginning of the 2024/2025 academic year, the total number of full-time students in universities and other higher education institutions across the country reached 707,300.
Compared to the beginning of the 2015/2016 academic year, this marks an increase of 443,400 students, reflecting a 2.7-fold rise in just ten years.
The year-by-year breakdown of full-time student numbers is as follows:
- 2015/2016: 263,900
- 2016/2017: 267,900
- 2017/2018: 287,500
- 2018/2019: 313,000
- 2019/2020: 360,100
- 2020/2021: 441,800
- 2021/2022: 553,900
- 2022/2023: 622,600
- 2023/2024: 661,800
- 2024/2025: 707,300
This steady growth reflects ongoing educational reforms and expanded access to higher education in Uzbekistan.
It should also be recalled that earlier it was reported that the number of foreign students enrolled in Uzbekistan’s higher education institutions reached 12,500 at the start of the 2024/2025 academic year.
