Starting from January 1, 2026, the use of motor vehicles that are 50 years old or older may be banned. This is stated in the draft resolution ’’On amendments and additions to certain decisions of the government of the Republic of Uzbekistan aimed at ensuring road traffic safety.’’
According to the new draft resolution, cars manufactured before 1976 will not be re-registered and will be removed from the state registry. This restriction, however, will not apply to vehicles classified as ’’antique.’’
In addition, a three-stage competition called ’’Green light’’ is planned to be held to promote adherence to traffic rules among children and young people.
The winners of the contest will be awarded from the funds of the ’’Safe road and safe pedestrian’’ foundation.
It is worth noting that earlier, reports also emerged that driving old cars may be banned in Almaty, Kazakhstan.
