3593Uzbekistan has donated 2,000 "first-grader kits" to Ukrainian children who will begin school in the upcoming academic year. This was reported by the Embassy of Ukraine in Uzbekistan.
It was noted that a two-week holiday was organized in Uzbekistan from June 5 to June 17 for 97 children from Ukrainian families affected by the war.
“This impressive initiative, implemented at the initiative of the Uzbek side, is a vivid demonstration of the deep friendship and solidarity between our peoples. We would like to express our special gratitude to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Uzbekistan for impeccable coordination, to the Federation of Trade Unions of Uzbekistan for comprehensive assistance, and to the Ministry of Preschool and School Education for an interesting and meaningful program.
Also, special thanks for the generous humanitarian cargo — 2,000 ‘first-grader kits’, which will be a wonderful gift for our future schoolchildren. Such assistance is invaluable for Ukraine, giving hope and smiles to children in need of support. We deeply appreciate your humanity and openness! Together, we will build a strong future!” the embassy said in a statement.
It should be recalled that in 2023, a group of 45 children from Ukraine was brought to Uzbekistan for rest and rehabilitation. That initiative, proposed by the Ukrainian Embassy, was supported by Uzbek business representatives and public organizations. The children spent 12 days at the Anor Children's Camp and were brought to Uzbekistan via the Polish city of Katowice. That same year, humanitarian aid was also sent to Ukrainian children on behalf of Uzbek public organizations and businessmen. The aid package included T-shirts for men, women, and children, along with 2,000 first-grade kits containing a school bag, notebook, drawing book, colored paper, plasticine, pen, glue, pencil, colored pencils, watercolors, and a pencil case. The humanitarian cargo was received by Lyubomir Bashinsky, Head of the International Society of Ukraine–Uzbekistan Friendship.
