As part of preparations for the FIFA World Cup, the Uzbekistan national team, led by Fabio Cannavaro, will take part in friendly matches against leading Super League clubs in May this year. This was reported by the Uzbekistan Professional Football League (UPFL).
“We made changes to the schedule planned for August 2025 within 24 hours and submitted it to the clubs, which approved the revised calendar within the set timeframe. The national team will begin a training camp involving domestic players starting May 5 and will play matches against leading Super League clubs on May 10, 17, and 24. This process will continue into the FIFA international window in June and further into the World Cup,” the statement said.
According to the source, taking into account the long break expected during May, June, and July, which could affect the integrity of the Super League, it has been planned to hold Uzbekistan Cup matches during the remainder of May.
Due to preparations for the 2027 Asian Cup, the second half of the Super League season is scheduled to begin on July 20. This will allow players to rest and regain strength ahead of the main training camp in December.
The final round of the Super League is scheduled for December 3 this year. Clubs that do not take part in the relegation play-offs or the semifinals of the Uzbekistan Cup will go on a break after that date. A total of four relegation play-off matches will be held in a centralized format in Tashkent within a short period.
