Uzbekistan has officially established diplomatic relations with the Commonwealth of The Bahamas, a country in Central America. This announcement was made by Uzbekistan’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, Bakhtiyor Saidov, on his Telegram channel.

The joint communique formalizing the relationship was signed by Foreign Ministers Bakhtiyor Saidov and Frederic Mitchell.

"Despite the long distance between our countries, we recognized many significant opportunities for establishing effective relations," Saidov stated.

With this agreement, the number of countries with which Uzbekistan has diplomatic relations now totals 156.

It is also noteworthy that, earlier this week, Uzbekistan established diplomatic ties with several other nations, including Cape Verde, Seychelles, Togo, Liberia, Burundi, and Botswana.
