Uzbek ambassador presents credentials to Turkmenistan President

1028Ravshanbek Alimov, appointed as the Ambassador of Uzbekistan to Ashgabat, presented his credentials to the President of Turkmenistan, Serdar Berdimuhamedow, according to the "Dunyo" news agency.
During the meeting, both sides noted with satisfaction the stable and effective development of interstate dialogue at all levels. It was highlighted that bilateral relations have been steadily advancing in recent years, with ongoing growth in cooperation across the energy, trade-economic, cultural-humanitarian, and other sectors.
Ambassador Ravshanbek Alimov stated that he would dedicate all his strength, energy, and knowledge to further develop the traditionally friendly relations between Uzbekistan and Turkmenistan.
For context, the 58-year-old diplomat holds degrees from the N. Bauman Moscow State Technical University, the Academy of Public Administration under the President of Uzbekistan, and Georgetown University (USA). He began his career in 1990 at the Ministry of Foreign Economic Relations (now the Ministry of Investment, Industry, and Trade) at the regional level. Over the years, he held key roles as head of department in the Presidential Administration, the Prime Minister's Secretariat, and the Ministry of Macroeconomics and Statistics. From 2002 to 2008, he served as Uzbekistan’s Ambassador to Ukraine and Deputy Ambassador to Moldova, as well as Ambassador to France and Deputy Ambassador to Portugal.
Since 2008, Ravshanbek Alimov has been with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, where he has held positions as an advisor at the embassy in Moscow, head of department, and head of a division at the central office. Prior to his appointment as Ambassador to Turkmenistan, he served as chairman of the Senate Committee on International Relations, Foreign Economic Relations, Foreign Investments, and Tourism.
He replaces Akmal Kuchkarov, who served as Uzbekistan’s Ambassador to Turkmenistan from 2016 to 2024.
