Uzbekistan will introduce a regime of “control without customs” in airports. This was the main point of discussion, 17 February, at a meeting with the President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev.

It was noted during the meeting that some customs border posts in the country did not have access to drinking water or an electricity supply.  Also, the roads leading to these border posts were disharmonious which led to justified protests by the population.

Consequently, the President of Uzbekistan announced that new construction projects would be carried out at each border customs post.
Governors were initially tasked with improving roads and other infrastructure leading to 22 border posts, which are used by 90 per cent of passengers and 70 percent of trucks.
Also, the Head of State ordered compliance of the following:

- Opening foreign trade centers in «Do’stlik» and «Yallama» border-crossing points.

 - Starting the construction of logistics, service and other infrastructure in the area adjacent to the «Olot» post.

 - Launch of the «customs free control» system at Samarkand International Airport until 1 April and then at all other airports.
