From now on, district governors in Uzbekistan will be personally responsible for curbing inflation in their region.  It was announced today, August 11, at the meeting of video selectors chaired by President Shavkat Mirziyoyev.

Commenting on the situation of repeated crops, the head of state criticized the fact that in some regions the price of carrots increased by 52%, tomatoes by 2 times, and cucumbers by 1.7 times, due to improper organization of such activities.  In addition, only 44,000 hectares of potatoes were planted as a repeat crop in the republic.

In general, the annual inflation rate last month was 8.9 percent, and in food products it was 10.7 percent.  In this regard, potatoes, onions, flour and oil products have become cheaper compared to last year.

“Here I strictly warn the governors.  Price control should not be at the expense of forcing entrepreneurs to sell their products at low prices.  These things must be provided only and only by increasing the number of repeated crops and increasing the volume of production,” says the President.

We remind you that earlier it was said that 94 districts and cities of the republic are unable to provide their residents with potatoes.
