The coalition «Cotton Campaign» cancelled the boycott of Uzbek cotton. The was reported by the press service under the Ministry of Employment and Labor Relations
It is noted that the decision was taken by the Cotton Campaign coalition in connection with the elimination of child and forced labor in cotton harvesting in Uzbekistan in 2021.
For reference, the “Cotton Campaign” first announced a boycott of Uzbek cotton in 2009.
It is important to recall that the monitoring team of the International Labor Organization interviewed 11,000 cotton pickers in Uzbekistan during the cotton harvest of 2021, 99% of them said that they worked on a voluntary basis. Very few or no cases of forced labor have been detected in any regions or districts.
