8852Next year, cotton planting technology based on the Xinjiang-Uighur model will be implemented across all cotton fields in the Fergana region. This announcement was made on July 12 during a meeting in Kuva, presided over by President Shavkat Mirziyoyev, focusing on the socio-economic development priorities for the Fergana region.
In the past three years, 110,000 residents of the region have been allocated 25,500 hectares of land for farming. The aim is to develop the "Fergana experiment" to produce three harvests annually on these lands.
Next year, cotton planting technology inspired by the Xinjiang-Uyghur approach will be implemented in all cotton fields in the region, and a modern seed production facility will be established.
Additionally, in 15 districts, parks will be developed on 500 hectares of land, with 50 hectares allocated to 30,000 residents. Moreover, 8,000 hectares of unproductive parks in the region will be rejuvenated.
In the Fergana district, high-yielding raspberry varieties from Italy and Poland are being cultivated on an industrial scale. Over 1,000 hectares of almond, peach, cherry, and plum orchards will be developed in Koshtepa and Yozyovon.
