11021Uzbek fighter Ramazon Temirov, who gained significant attention in the UFC, returned to Tashkent late on October 15. Although his flight landed at 1:20 a.m., Temirov and his team did not disembark to meet their relatives and fans until several hours later. It was only after 4:00 a.m. that Temirov finally emerged from the airport’s exit corridor, greeted by music from a military band and a warm welcome from family, artists, athletes, and members of the media.
In an interview, the 27-year-old fighter admitted he felt a bit nervous before his debut fight but said all those feelings were behind him once the match was over.
Initially prepared for a three-round fight, Temirov instead dominated his experienced American opponent, securing a victory in the first round with a series of powerful strikes. His impressive win earned him a $50,000 bonus on top of his fight purse. Following this stellar performance, Temirov rose from 83rd to 20th in the UFC rankings in the -57 kg weight class, signaling that his future opponents will be much tougher and more formidable.
If Temirov continues to deliver standout performances like his debut, he could soon be in contention for the championship belt in his weight division. Additionally, his success in signing with the UFC may pave the way for his brother, fellow MMA fighter Azizbek Temirov, to enter the world’s most prestigious mixed martial arts league.
Ramazon Temirov has quickly become one of the rising stars of Uzbek sports. Recognizing the importance of star athletes, Uzbekistan often honors them with valuable gifts. Temirov was recently awarded the key to a two-room apartment in Tashkent, which he graciously presented to his father, acknowledging his role as the biggest supporter throughout his career.
