President of Turkmenistan also arrives at the summit

2841Today, April 3, President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov arrived in Samarkand to participate in the first "Central Asia-European Union" summit, which is being held under the chairmanship of President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev. The news was reported by the press secretary of the Uzbek Prime Minister, Bekzod Khidoyatov.
The high-ranking guest was welcomed at Samarkand International Airport by Prime Minister of Uzbekistan Abdulla Aripov and other officials.
Following his arrival, President Berdimuhamedov proceeded to his next scheduled engagements in accordance with his visit program.
The first "Central Asia-European Union" summit is taking place in Samarkand on April 3-4, chaired by President Mirziyoyev. The event is attended by the leaders of Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, and Turkmenistan. Additionally, on April 4-5, the first "Samarkand Climate Forum" will be held at the Silk Road Samarkand Congress Center. This forum is expected to bring together leaders from Central Asian countries, including Uzbekistan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, and Turkmenistan, alongside representatives from the European Union, the United Nations, international financial institutions, and leading environmental organizations.
It is worth recalling that on April 2, European Council President António Costa, European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen, and President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev arrived in Samarkand to participate in the summit. That evening, President Mirziyoyev held an informal meeting with European Council President António Costa, followed by a meeting with Ursula von der Leyen today, April 3.
Earlier today, April 3, Kyrgyz President Sadyr Japarov and Tajik President Emomali Rahmon also arrived in Samarkand.
