8381A citizen of Uzbekistan who was sexually abused by her stepfather in Turkey has been returned to her home country. This was reported by the Consulate General of Uzbekistan in Istanbul.
According to the report, the minor girl traveled to Turkey with her mother in 2015 for work and settled in Istanbul. Her mother later married a Turkish citizen and began living with him.
The girl was subjected to sexual abuse by her stepfather. As a result, in 2017, she was placed in an orphanage in Istanbul. In February of this year, she was released from the orphanage following a court appeal filed by her sister.
However, the girl was left without care again after her sister was arrested for using force against Turkish police.
In coordination with several organizations, the Consulate General organized the girl's return to Uzbekistan and ensured her transfer to her legal guardians.
“The Consulate General takes this opportunity to call on all our compatriots not to be indifferent to the fate of their minor children, and to pay special attention to their safety and legal protection,” the statement said.
It should be recalled that earlier, the Consulate General provided assistance to another Uzbek citizen who sustained serious injuries, including a broken leg, in a traffic accident in Turkey.
