Kazakh President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev expressed gratitude to U.S. President Donald Trump for the invitation to attend the G20 summit during a ceremony in which he accepted the credentials of the new U.S. Ambassador to Astana, Julie Stuff. The information was reported by the Akorda press service.
“We had a friendly and, at the same time, substantive conversation with President Donald Trump. Recently, we also held a productive telephone discussion on a wide range of issues related to our bilateral cooperation. I am grateful for the invitation to take part in the G20 summit, which will be held in the United States later this year,” Tokayev said.
He also assured that Kazakhstan is prepared to do everything possible to preserve and strengthen its strategic partnership with the United States across many areas.
Earlier in December, Trump said that the leaders of Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan would be invited as guests to the G20 summit scheduled to take place in Miami in 2026. He shared the information in a post on the social media platform Truth Social.
According to the U.S. Embassy in Kazakhstan, Julie Stuff was confirmed as U.S. Ambassador to Astana on October 7, 2025. She previously served as deputy assistant to the president and executive secretary of the National Security Council. Earlier in her career, she worked at diplomatic missions in Russia, Ethiopia, and Poland.
