Shavkat Mirziyoyev congratulates Tokayev on his birthday

President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev held a telephone conversation today, May 17, with President of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, during which he sincerely congratulated him on his birthday. Mirziyoyev wished him strong health, happiness and great success in his responsible state activities aimed at ensuring the peaceful life and prosperity of the brotherly people of Kazakhstan, the Uzbek leader’s press service reported.

According to the report, the President of Uzbekistan noted the high level of preparation and organization of the informal summit of the Organization of Turkic States in Turkistan, as well as the meaningful talks held there. He emphasized that the meetings had given new momentum to mutually beneficial cooperation among the participating countries.

As part of the implementation of agreements reached at the highest level, the sides reviewed current issues related to further strengthening Uzbekistan-Kazakhstan relations of good-neighbourliness, strategic partnership and alliance.

The leaders noted with satisfaction that mutually beneficial cooperation is developing dynamically in all areas. Systematic work is underway to increase bilateral trade turnover to $10 billion in the coming years, while investment cooperation is expanding, including within the framework of the International Centre for Industrial Cooperation. Promising projects and initiatives are also being implemented in energy, transport, ecology, and cultural and humanitarian spheres.

The importance of developing a new economic agenda within the framework of the upcoming meeting of the Intergovernmental Commission, the first meeting of the Council of Regional Leaders and other mechanisms was also emphasized.

The sides also reviewed the schedule of upcoming bilateral and multilateral events.
