Seismic activity in Gorno-Badakhshan felt in Uzbek regions

8111A significant earthquake struck the Gorno-Badakhshan region of Tajikistan, as reported by the Republic Center for Seismological Monitoring.
The earthquake occurred on April 13, 2025, at 9:24 AM Tashkent time. The seismic event was recorded at latitude 39.16°N and longitude 70.71°E, with a magnitude of 5.8 and a depth of 10 km. The epicenter was located 266 km southeast of Tashkent.
The intensity of the earthquake was felt in various regions across Uzbekistan. In the Fergana region, the tremors measured 3 points, and the distance to the epicenter was 164 km. In the Namangan, Sirdaryo, and Andijan regions, the tremors measured 2-3 points, with distances of 220 km, 222 km, and 227 km, respectively. Jizzakh and Tashkent experienced tremors of 2 points, both at a distance of 266 km from the epicenter. Similarly, the Samarkand region recorded tremors of 2 points at a distance of 327 km, and the Surkhandarya region felt tremors of 2 points at 367 km from the epicenter.
Previously, a similar seismic event had occurred in Jalal-Abad, Kyrgyzstan, which also impacted parts of Uzbekistan.
