Air Samarkand’s flight UZS4003 from Tashkent to Jeddah made an emergency landing at Bahrain International Airport due to a medical emergency on board, the airline reported.
A 75-year-old passenger suffered a second heart attack during the flight. The doctor on board confirmed that the passenger’s condition was critical, prompting the crew, led by Captain Roman Igorevich Talanov, to make an emergency landing in Bahrain to ensure the patient received urgent medical care.
Flight attendants, under the leadership of Chief Flight Attendant Alena Shishkina, worked alongside the onboard doctor to provide first aid using the aircraft’s medical equipment. Upon landing, the patient was handed over to an airport ambulance team in stable condition.
The flight is expected to continue to Jeddah with a delay of approximately one hour.
For reference, a similar incident occurred earlier when an Uzbekistan Airways flight from New York to Tashkent made an emergency landing in Kazan, Russia, due to an unruly, intoxicated passenger.
