The number of malfunctioning elevators in residential buildings in Tashkent has been announced. According to the Industrial, Radiation and Nuclear Safety Committee, a total of 37,103 elevator defects have been recorded across multi-storey apartment buildings in the capital. The figures were disclosed during a press conference titled “Supervisory and Preventive Measures for Ensuring Industrial Safety in Tashkent.”

The head of the committee’s regional department in Tashkent, Olimjon Jo‘rayev, reported that since the beginning of the year, 121 inspections and 10,381 preventive measures have been conducted, uncovering 1,145 violations. Administrative action has been taken against 135 individuals.

Jo‘rayev also recalled a crane collapse on 8 September 2025 at the Do‘mbirobod City construction site in Chilanzar district, which left one person dead and two seriously injured. An investigative commission reviewed the incident, and measures have since been taken to prevent similar cases. Currently, 74 cranes are operating in the capital with the required official permits.

In addition, 205 fuel stations were inspected, revealing that 41 were operating without identification, 78 lacked approved project documentation, and 147 did not have technical inspection certificates.

The press conference also noted that 263 amusement rides located across 17 recreational parks in Tashkent were inspected. Of these, 45 lacked technical passports, while 23 did not have the required safety compliance documentation.
