Conference of SCO and CIS countries on the fight against terrorism will be in Tashkent

3146On September 4-5, 2024, the tenth international scientific and practical conference of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) Regional Counter-Terrorism Structure and the second conference of the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS) on the fight against terrorism and extremism will be held in Tashkent. This was reported by UzA.
The conference is expected to be attended by representatives from the competent bodies of SCO and CIS member states, working structures of CIS bodies, and international organizations, as well as delegations from educational and scientific-analytical institutions involved in studying the challenges of combating terrorism and extremism.
In addition, representatives from the UN, CIS ATM, Interpol, EOOG, OHCHR, and other organizations will participate in the conference.
The main goal of the conference is to exchange best practices in combating terrorism and extremism, develop measures to enhance international cooperation in this regard and form common understandings and approaches among participants to address new security threats.
Furthermore, under the coordination of the CIS ATM, the State Security Service of the Republic of Uzbekistan will conduct joint counter-terrorism exercises of the competent bodies of the CIS member states titled "East-Aksilterror - 2024."
The purpose of the exercise is to improve the activities of the competent bodies of CIS member states in conducting joint counter-terrorism measures to identify and neutralize terrorist threats at critical infrastructure facilities and in crowded places.
We remind you that earlier in Bishkek, the capital of Kyrgyzstan, the 54th meeting of the Council of Heads of Security Agencies and Special Services of CIS Member States was held.
