Food prices drop for some products in Tashkent

3560In March 2025, the Institute of Macroeconomic and Territorial Research under the Cabinet of Ministers reported changes in the prices of 21 food products across large supermarkets in Tashkent.
According to the findings, the minimum prices for six products have decreased compared to the previous month. Notably, the prices for potatoes dropped by 19.8%, yellow onions by 10.3%, red carrots by 3.4%, eggs by 2.1%, bananas by 0.9%, and sunflower oil by 0.6%.
On the other hand, the minimum prices for seven products saw an increase, with tomatoes experiencing the largest price hike, attributed to seasonal factors. Eight products saw no change in prices, including wheat flour, rice, pasta, white cabbage, apples, chicken fillet, milk, and sugar.
The analysis, based on monitoring data from February 6 to March 13, 2025, also revealed that Uzbekistan ranked 17th in the 2025 restaurant price index compiled by the "Numbeo" portal, out of 139 countries. This made Uzbekistan the least expensive country in the CIS region.
