In June, seasonal deflation of 0.2 percent was recorded in Uzbekistan

Uzbekistan experienced a 0.2% deflation at the end of June, attributed to seasonal price drops in vegetables, fruits, and most basic food items, according to the Statistics Agency.

 

In June, food product prices fell by an average of 1.8%, the lowest rate in the past five years, though they rose by 3.5% annually. Prices for non-food goods increased by 0.8% (7.9% annually), and paid services rose by 0.9% (27.9% annually).

 

The Statistics Agency reported that egg prices rose by 1.1% (11.3% in April, 15.6% in May, and 8.5% annually). Milk prices increased by 0.5%, sugar by 1.2%, sunflower oil by 0.1%, and flour by 0.4%.

 

Rice prices went up by 0.3% (5.9% annually), beef by 0.7% (4.6%), and lamb by 1% (5.2%).

 

In June, apples were the only fruit or vegetable to see a price increase, rising by 3.1% (33.2% annually).

 

Prices fell for eggplant by 53.9%, tomatoes by 42.8%, bell peppers by 41.3%, pumpkins by 38.5%, cucumbers by 37.8%, cabbage by 17.7%, onions by 13.9%, carrots by 1.3%, and potatoes by 0.7%.

 

Annually, watermelon prices increased by 20.5%, melons by 43.4%, and grapes by 87.3%. In contrast, potatoes decreased by 2.9%, tomatoes by 15.1%, carrots by 27.2%, and onions by 55.6%.

 

Housing rent rose by 0.7% monthly and 9.5% annually. Cold water supply and sewage services increased by an average of 0.5%, and household waste removal costs went up by 2.5%.

 

Medicine prices continued to rise after the abolition of VAT incentives, increasing by 1.4% in June (16.7% since the start of the year, 20.1% annually). Inpatient treatment and rehabilitation services rose by 4.2%, and antibiotics became 19.4% more expensive over the past six months. Meanwhile, gasoline prices dropped by 1.4% (+23.4% annually), propane by 1.9% (+12.9% annually), and methane by 11.9% (+36.8%).

 

In June, railway transport service prices increased by an average of 1.8% nationwide. Air travel costs rose by 0.2%, and tourist trip prices went up by 1.6%.

 

Additionally, fees for public kindergartens rose by 20%, while private kindergarten costs increased by 2.4%.

 

Previously in May, it was reported that the prices of goods and services in the consumer sector had increased by an average of 2.8%.
