12400Recent reports indicate that entrepreneurs in the Almazor district of Tashkent may face electricity cuts if they do not install solar panels. A warning letter regarding this has been sent to nearly all business entities in the district, as well as to the administration of the rented building of QALAMPIR.UZ.
Social media has been abuzz with claims that entrepreneurs are being cut off from public electricity and compelled to install alternative energy sources. In response, JSC "Regional Electric Networks" has issued a statement addressing the situation.
The company highlighted that the Decree of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan, dated February 16, 2023, titled "On Measures to Accelerate the Introduction of Renewable Energy Sources and Energy-Saving Technologies in 2023" (No. PQ-57), and the Decision dated May 31, 2024, "On Additional Measures to Increase the Efficiency of Resource Use" (No. PQ-222), mandate that a portion of the energy needs for business entities in Uzbekistan should be met through alternative energy sources.
"While tax incentives and other benefits have been offered to support this transition, some businesses have not complied. Consequently, district electricity supply companies have issued warning letters," the report stated.
JSC "Regional Electric Networks" has denied that the installation of alternative energy sources is being enforced upon entrepreneurs.
However, a warning letter signed by Ravshan Mirsultonov, the head of the Almazor district electric network company, has been circulated. QALAMPIR.UZ states that within 10 working days of receiving the warning, businesses must switch to sustainable green energy sources (such as solar panels) and reduce their electricity consumption by 20%. Failure to comply will result in disconnection from the electricity supply. The letter further notes that non-compliance will lead to an immediate disconnection without further notice.
"In case of non-fulfillment of the technical conditions and obligations outlined by the Cabinet of Ministers of the Republic of Uzbekistan dated June 10, 2024, No. 319 'On Approval of the Rules for the Use of Electricity and Natural Gas,' we warn of disconnection from the electricity supply without further warning.
If this request is not implemented within 10 working days, we will proceed with disconnection," states the letter signed by Mirsultanov.
