In the Surkhandarya region, a suspect has been apprehended for selling 1,470 tons of coal valued at 447.2 million soums at inflated prices. This was reported by the Department for Combating Economic Crimes under the General Prosecutor's Office.

During a swift operation conducted by the Uzun district department, authorities discovered 5,000 bags of coal, each weighing 20 kg, stored without proper documentation in a non-residential building within the territory of the "Erkinlik" neighborhood. The suspect, identified as A.A., was caught in the act of agreeing to sell the coal for 100 million soums and accepting 5,000 US dollars as part of the transaction.

Preliminary investigations revealed that E.R., the manager of the Uzun district warehouse for "Coal Supply" LLC, caused significant harm to the interests of the state and society by selling the coal at elevated prices. The total cost of heating for residents and social sector facilities during the autumn-winter season was 447.2 million soums. Notably, F.M., who was arrested during the operation in September 2023, sold 180 tons of coal for 120 million soums.

Criminal cases have been initiated under relevant articles of the Criminal Code, and investigations are ongoing.

Earlier, a similar case emerged in Khorezm, where the head of an LLC was found guilty of misappropriating funds allocated for providing coal to social sector facilities.
