Archaeologists have unearthed 4,000-year-old graves and remnants of a 2,000-year-old city in the Surkhandarya region, according to local authorities.
The joint archaeological expedition by Uzbekistan and China uncovered various artifacts, including pottery, weapons, jewelry, figurines, remains of town towers, and ancient graves in the Uzun district.
Preliminary analysis suggests that these discoveries date back to the Kang, Kushan, and Yuechji (Massaget) periods from the 2nd to 3rd centuries BC.
Research is ongoing in the area, with the joint expedition continuing its work, the report states.
Previously, in the Sariosia district of Surkhandarya, khum vessels from the 9th to 16th centuries AD were discovered.
