Kindergarten teacher in Surkhandarya was arrested for beating 5-year-old boy over poem (Video)

A video showing a teacher physically abusing a 5-year-old boy at Preschool Education Organization No. 16 in the Denov district of Surkhandarya region has been widely shared on social media. The Regional Department of Preschool and School Education has provided information about the incident.

The incident occurred on August 13 of this year. A working group has been established to investigate the matter.

In the video, a teacher is seen yelling at a crying student who is struggling to memorize a poem about independence. The teacher is also seen hitting the child with an object to try to calm him down. A woman's voice is heard berating the children, saying, "You are a donkey, will the child be like that?"

Unfortunately, such incidents of abuse by kindergarten staff have been reported increasingly. In Andijan, a kindergarten nurse was reported in May for beating two children before being physically assaulted herself. In Khorezm’s Gurlan district, a kindergarten nurse was dismissed after being caught beating young children. Similarly, a teacher from the 16th kindergarten in Gallaorol district, Jizzakh region, was fired for hitting children on the face and body with slippers.
