12739Earlier, we reported that a judge from the Permanent Arbitration Court of the Navoi Regional Representative Office of the Association of Arbitration Courts of Uzbekistan was apprehended while accepting $500 and 6,250,000 soums. The Supreme Council of Judges has reacted to this incident.
According to the Council, arbitration courts do not fall under the jurisdiction of the judicial system. On the contrary, they are non-governmental bodies empowered to resolve specific economic disputes arising from civil-legal relations and among business entities. Therefore, the activities of arbitration courts are governed not by the Law of Uzbekistan "On Courts" but by a separate normative legal document—the Law "On Arbitration Courts".
It is emphasized that judges of arbitration courts are neither appointed nor dismissed by the Supreme Council of Judges.
We would like to remind you that a judge was apprehended with a bribe of $2,000 in Mingbulok.
