Criminal case opened after traffic patrol inspector's death in Navoi

A criminal case has been initiated following the tragic death of a traffic patrol inspector in Navoi, Navoi region, who was hit by a car while on duty. Hayat Shamsutdinov, press secretary of the General Prosecutor's Office, confirmed this development.

The criminal case has been filed under Article 266 (violation of safety rules regarding vehicle movement) and Article 117 (endangerment) of the Criminal Code. The investigation is ongoing.

The accident occurred on January 19 at approximately 1:45 a.m. On Islam Karimov Street in Navoi, the traffic patrol inspector signaled for a Kia Sonet to stop. The car, which was driving without a license plate, had violated traffic rules. Instead of complying, the driver fled in the opposite direction and struck the inspector, who died on the spot. 

The driver, identified as S.M., a 10th-grade student born in 2008, was found to be behind the wheel. The car, which belongs to the student's father, was located during a swift investigation and placed in the penalty area.

This incident follows a similar case in Namangan region, where a 9th-grade student caused a traffic accident while driving a rented car.
