9781The Gulistan District Criminal Court has issued a verdict against a man who killed his wife and mother-in-law shortly after their marriage. This information was conveyed by the press service of the Syrdarya Regional Courts.
The convict, having previously served a sentence for stabbing his first wife, embarked on a tragic path once again in his second marriage.
On the day of the incident, the defendant stole 15 million soums from the store's cash register where he was employed, before committing the murders. The altercation stemmed from a dispute over furniture purchased for the wedding, which had been removed from the home due to non-payment.
The defendant's status as a citizen of Tajikistan with an expired stay in Uzbekistan incurred a fine, which the deceased's brother contributed towards, only for the money to be misused. The mother-in-law opposed her son-in-law's actions and intervened in the couple's dispute on the fateful day.
Arriving home intoxicated at 01:40, the defendant proceeded to fatally assault his wife and mother-in-law during the altercation, inflicting multiple stab wounds with a kitchen knife. After the crime, he discarded the weapon, absconded with the stolen money, and fled the scene.
The court found the defendant guilty of deliberate murder, as stipulated by Article 97 of the Criminal Code of Uzbekistan, and sentenced him to 24 years in prison, with the first 3 years to be served in confinement.
