3 people die from gas poisoning in a well in Syrdarya

On May 22, three individuals died from gas poisoning while in a well in the Saykhunabad district of the Syrdarya region. This information was confirmed by Hayot Shamsutdinov, press secretary of the Prosecutor General's Office, to QALAMPIR.UZ.

The incident occurred on Shirin Street in the "Do'stlik" neighborhood of the district. A man born in 1958 died after inhaling toxic gas that had accumulated in a 5-meter-deep well while cleaning it inside his apartment.

His child, born in 1986, and a neighbor, born in 1979, entered the well in an attempt to rescue him but also died from gas poisoning. Two other individuals who went into the well to help lost consciousness due to toxic gas inhalation.

Emergency responders from the Saykhunabad district quickly arrived and removed the bodies as well as the unconscious individuals from the well. Medical treatment saved the lives of the two who lost consciousness; they were admitted to the Saykhunabad district medical association for further care.

The Saykhunabad district prosecutor’s office has launched a preliminary investigation into the incident.

It is worth noting that earlier, in the Bostanlyk district of the Tashkent region, a parent and their child died from carbon monoxide poisoning.
