The mayor of Syrdarya has become a senator.

Akmal Mahmudaliyev, the governor of Syrdarya region, has been elected as a member of the Senate of the Oliy Majlis. This was reported by the Central Election Commission.

Yesterday, on June 15, a joint meeting of regional, district, and city councils of people’s deputies was held in the building of the regional administration in Gulistan. Chairman of the Central Election Commission, Zayniddin Nizomkhojayev, took part in it.

The election was conducted by secret ballot, and Akmal Mahmudaliyev, the governor of Syrdarya region, was elected as a member of the Senate of the Oliy Majlis.

For your information, Akmal Azimjonovich Mahmudaliev was appointed as the governor of Syrdarya region on April 7 of this year. Prior to that, he had been serving as the acting governor of Syrdarya region since 2022.

We would like to remind you that on June 13 of this year, Ulugbek Kasimov, the governor of Surkhandarya region, was also elected as a member of the Senate of the Oliy Majlis.
