Today, February 26, President of the Republic of Uzbekistan and Supreme Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces Shavkat Mirziyoyev visited a military unit during his trip to the Surkhandarya region. This was reported by the presidential press service.

The large-scale reforms being implemented in the country’s defense system are becoming an important factor in further enhancing the combat capability of the troops and improving the activities of military-administrative sectors.

At the unit, all necessary conditions have been created to strengthen the combat training of servicemen. Training facilities, a canteen, dormitories, spiritual and educational rooms, and a sports complex are equipped with modern technology and equipment.

Currently, artificial intelligence, robots, missiles, drones, and counter-drone systems are widely used in various regional conflicts. In this regard, the Supreme Commander-in-Chief has tasked the Armed Forces with establishing new units focused on drone operations and countermeasures, artificial intelligence-based cyber infrastructure, robotic technologies, and air defense.

Systematic work is underway in this direction, and the national army is being supplied with modern weapons and military equipment.

The head of state reviewed the conditions created at the military unit, as well as military equipment and weapons, including modern air defense systems.

It was emphasized that, in determining priority areas for the development of the national army, it is necessary to take into account the nature of modern armed conflicts, existing security threats, and the specific characteristics of theaters of military operations.

Relevant officials were instructed to consistently continue the implementation of tasks aimed at strengthening the Armed Forces’ capacity, reinforcing their material and technical base, and improving the readiness of personnel.

Earlier, during his visit to the Surkhandarya region, Shavkat Mirziyoyev launched 44 projects worth a total of $7.1 billion. The President also visited the “Yangi Uzbekistan” residential complex under construction in the Jarkurgan district and took part in the sumalak festival.
