Shavkat Mirziyoyev launches 44 projects in Surkhandarya

On February 26, President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev launched 44 projects in the Surkhandarya region with a total value of $7.1 billion. This was reported by the press service of the Uzbek leader.
According to the report, the head of state also reviewed an exhibition of products manufactured in the Surkhandarya region, as well as presentations of major projects being implemented in cooperation with foreign investors.

In recent years, entrepreneurship in the region has developed rapidly, and investors’ interest in the area has continued to grow.
Last year, the region’s gross regional product reached 63.7 trillion soums. The number of large industrial enterprises increased to nearly 30, while small enterprises rose to 4,820, producing goods worth 18.8 trillion soums. Foreign investment totaling $2.1 billion was utilized. Products and services worth $483 million were exported to 37 countries worldwide.

The projects presented to the head of state cover various sectors of the regional economy. They include housing construction, mining and geology, light industry, food production, energy, healthcare and pharmaceuticals, education, services, and tourism, with plans to commission new production capacities.

Projects with a total value of approximately $1.6 billion are being implemented in cooperation with Russia, China, Turkey, Pakistan, Japan, Germany, India, and Mongolia.
The head of state held talks with investors. Following this, a ceremony was held with the participation of members of the public to mark the launch and commencement of 44 projects in the Surkhandarya region worth a total of $7.1 billion.

President Shavkat Mirziyoyev symbolically pressed a button to initiate the construction and operation of new projects in the mining, geology, light industry, furniture manufacturing, food production, services, and tourism sectors.
In particular, 13 projects worth $741 million were launched with the participation of investors from China, Turkey, India, Pakistan, Russia, Tajikistan, and local partners.

In addition, construction began on 31 projects worth $6.3 billion in cooperation with Austria, Germany, the Netherlands, China, India, the United Arab Emirates, Russia, and Afghanistan.
The implementation of these projects is expected to create 18,000 new jobs, produce industrial goods worth 82 trillion soums, and enable exports totaling $1.4 billion.

Earlier, it was reported that Shavkat Mirziyoyev visited the “Yangi Uzbekistan” residential complex under construction in the Jarkurgan district of the Surkhandarya region and took part in the sumalak festival.
