The Senate approved an important document between Uzbekistan and Turkey

The Senate of the Oliy Majlis of the Republic of Uzbekistan approved the law “On ratification of the agreement between the government of the Republic of Uzbekistan and the government of the Republic of Turkey on the transfer of prisoners (Tashkent, 29 March 2022).”

It is noted that the law on the ratification of this international agreement creates a legal basis and opportunity for the citizens of Uzbekistan and Turkey to serve the sentence imposed by the court in their country.

According to this legal document, convicts are released based on the appeals of the parties in accordance with the procedures established by the law.

During the discussion, the senators emphasized that serving the sentence of the convicts in their own country and society allows them to see their loved ones regularly, which has a positive effect on family relations, and also helps the convicts to adapt to the social life of the society.

It was noted in the Senate that the adoption of the law will allow for more effective protection of the rights and interests of citizens, and will serve to strengthen the positive influence of the republic in the international arena.

It should be recalled that this agreement was signed on 30 March 2022, during the official visit of the President of the Republic of Turkey, Recep Tayyip Erdogan, to the Republic of Uzbekistan.
