Did “Sanjik” get a hair transplant while in prison?

Reports have circulated on social media claiming that blogger Sanjar Karimov, known by the nickname “Real Sanjik,” underwent a hair transplant while in prison. QALAMPIR.UZ contacted Karimov’s lawyers regarding the matter.

During previous court hearings, Sanjar Karimov appeared with his head shaved in accordance with prison regulations and usually wore a head covering. However, during the appeal hearings that began on June 29 at the Tashkent City Criminal Court, he attended without a head covering due to the summer weather. This led to speculation on social media after the hair on his forehead appeared different.

Images from the court hearings appeared to show a distinct difference in the color and appearance of the hair in Karimov’s frontal hairline, leading to claims that he had undergone a hair transplant. His lawyer, Mansur Abduraimov, confirmed that Sanjar Karimov had previously received a hair transplant.

"Sanjar’s hair had been shaved while he was in prison. Since it had been cut very short, the hair on his forehead appeared more noticeable. When I asked him whether he had undergone a hair transplant, he replied: ‘Yes, I had a hair transplant abroad a year ago.’ I can say with confidence that Sanjar did not undergo a hair transplant while in prison, and it would not have been possible. He is not in prison worrying about his hair; his only goal is for justice to prevail and to be released," the lawyer said.

Another defense attorney for Karimov, Oybek Ashurov, also confirmed this information. According to him, Sanjar Karimov is complying with all internal regulations of the correctional facility, like other inmates.

For reference, Karimov’s appeal proceedings are currently ongoing. The next court hearing is scheduled for July 27.

Earlier, it was reported that an international search through Interpol for Ravshan Muhitdinov, known as “Ravshan Zolotoy” and Sanjar Karimov’s brother-in-law, had been terminated after the charges against him were not confirmed. Later, Muhitdinov commented on the decision, saying that "the way to his historical homeland had been opened."
