“Sanjik” trial drags on as lawyers’ complaint reportedly left unreviewed

On July 6, the second hearing of the appeal proceedings in the criminal case involving Sanjar Karimov was held at the Tashkent City Criminal Court. QALAMPIR.UZ directly attended the court hearing.

At this hearing, another lawyer defending Sanjar Karimov, Akmal Fozilov, joined the case. With this, the defendant is now being represented by a total of six lawyers.

At the beginning of the hearing, the court considered the fact that the electronic appeal application of one of Karimov’s defense lawyers, Oybek Ashurov, had been left unreviewed by the Mirzo Ulugbek District Criminal Court.

According to the case materials, the lawyer needs the district court’s ruling letter in order to defend Karimov. At the same time, the newly joined lawyer also submitted a petition to the judicial panel to participate in the trial.

In order to ensure the full participation of Sanjar Karimov’s defense lawyers in the proceedings, the court announced a break to review the submitted petitions. The next court hearing has been postponed until July 13 this year.
