9031A 28-year-old man has been sentenced to 17 years in prison for the murder of his lover in the Samarkand region. This was reported by the "Keep Silence" project.
The convict, identified as B.E., born in 1996, was engaged to the victim, R. The couple met on Telegram in 2023, and their friendly correspondence quickly developed into a romantic relationship, leading to their engagement.
B.E. exhibited extreme jealousy towards his fiancée and sought to control her, insisting on keeping her under constant observation. This behavior led to dissatisfaction and frequent arguments between the couple.
Amid ongoing quarrels fueled by jealousy, R. expressed her desire to end the relationship, which provoked B.E.'s anger. He threatened to kill her, subjected her to physical violence, and harassed her.
Determined to carry out the murder, B.E. purchased a kitchen knife from the "Siyob" market in Samarkand. On April 7, 2023, he went to R.'s home, forcibly took her away, and stabbed her multiple times in the abdomen and thighs with the concealed knife. When she attempted to escape, B.E. became further enraged and stabbed her several times in the arms and back.
R. succumbed to her injuries while being transported to the hospital. After the crime, B.E. turned himself into the police and confessed to the murder.
During the court proceedings, B.E. admitted his guilt but requested a lighter sentence, claiming that R. was partly responsible for his actions due to her ignoring his calls and expressing her desire to leave him.
On September 13, 2024, the Samarkand District Court on Criminal Cases found B.E. guilty under Article 112 (Threat of murder or use of violence) and Article 97 (Intentional murder) of the Criminal Code, sentencing him to 17 years and 1 month of imprisonment in a general regime colony.
