Agroinspection officer detained in Samarkand

A leading specialist of the Samarkand regional department of the Agro-industrial complex control inspection under the Cabinet of Ministers of Uzbekistan was caught while receiving a $2,500 bribe. This was reported by the State Security Service.

According to the information, during an inspection conducted at a farm specializing in agricultural production in the Samarkand district, the specialist found that a citizen renting and using 50 acres of land had caused damage to the soil fertility. In exchange for not taking measures against the individual, the specialist demanded $3,000 and had previously received $500.

During an operation carried out jointly by officers of the State Security Service and the regional prosecutor’s office, the leading specialist was detained with material evidence while receiving the remaining $2,500.

A criminal case has been initiated against him under Article 168 (fraud), part 3, paragraph ’’v,’’ and Articles 28 and 211 (bribery), part 1, of the Criminal Code, and a preventive measure in the form of detention has been applied.

It is reported that investigative actions are currently underway.

It is worth noting that earlier, the deputy governor of Marhamat district in Andijan region was detained for receiving $15,000.
