A construction company illegally cut down 31 rare trees in the Samarkand region, as reported by the Regional Department of Ecology.

The company "Samarkand Special Water Drainage" LLC, which is engaged in constructing an additional 150-seat building and carrying out reconstruction works at Pre-school Education Organization No. 16 in "Boghimaydon" neighborhood, Samarkand City, cut down trees illegally. Among the felled trees were Eldar pine (Pinus eldarica) with diameters ranging from 6.6 cm to 24.5 cm and one low-value poplar tree with a diameter of 27.0 cm. These trees were uprooted during the excavation for the planned building's foundation.

The illegal cutting of trees caused damage to nature amounting to 260,620,000 soums.

"Due to the signs of a crime and the extent of the damage to the flora, relevant documents were prepared in accordance with legal requirements and submitted to law enforcement authorities," the report states.

It is noteworthy that earlier in Samarkand, a person who cut down seven trees was fined.
