6895Entrepreneurs in the Almazar district of Tashkent city may face power cuts if they do not install solar panels. A warning letter regarding this has been sent to almost all business entities in the district, including the administration of the building rented by QALAMPIR.UZ.
According to the warning letter signed by Ravshan Mirsultanov, the head of the Almazar district electric network company, entrepreneurs are required to transition to green alternative energy (solar panels, compensating equipment) and reduce electricity consumption by 20% within 10 working days from the receipt of the letter. Failure to comply will result in disconnection from the electricity supply.
The letter cites, "Presidential Decree PQ-57, dated February 16, 2023, "On Measures to Accelerate the Introduction of Renewable Energy Sources and Energy-Saving Technologies in 2023" and PQ-222, dated May 31, 2024, "On Additional Measures to Increase the Efficiency of Energy Resource Use." It also references the tasks and instructions from the Republican Staff's Meeting No. 7 on energy resource management. The letter informs that businesses must transition to green alternative energy sources (solar panels, compensating equipment) and achieve a 20% reduction in electricity usage within 10 working days of receiving the notification."
The warning letter further states that entrepreneurs who fail to meet this requirement will be disconnected from the power supply without any further notice.
"In case of non-compliance with the technical conditions and obligations stipulated in the Cabinet of Ministers of the Republic of Uzbekistan's Resolution No. 319 dated June 10, 2024, 'On the Approval of Rules for the Use of Electricity and Natural Gas,' we warn that disconnection from the network will occur without further notice. If this requirement is not met within 10 working days, we hereby inform you that your business will be disconnected from the electricity supply!" the letter signed by Mirsultanov states.
The warning letter was distributed to business entities almost simultaneously on August 30, with delivery by Internal Affairs guards. On the same day, a QALAMPIR.UZ reporter visited the Almazar district power grid enterprise and observed dozens of entrepreneurs carrying the letter, seeking clarification. The power grid enterprise, anticipating protests, had closed its gates, and the area was being guarded by the National Guard and Internal Affairs officers.
It is worth noting that similar warning letters have reportedly been sent to entrepreneurs not only in the Almazar district but throughout Tashkent.
