Russian figure skaters join Uzbekistan team

The Executive Committee of the Russian Figure Skating Federation has permitted figure skaters Yekaterina Geinish and Dmitry Chigirev to represent Uzbekistan. This announcement was made by TASS.
"The Executive Committee of the Russian Figure Skating Federation allowed Geinish and Chigirev to join the national team of Uzbekistan," stated the report.
Since 2022, the pair have competed together in various events, winning the Moscow championship and cup, and securing first place at the Panin-Kolomenkin Memorial tournament. They train under the guidance of coach Nina Moser.
Due to sanctions imposed on Russia by international sports organizations, the pair may face difficulties competing in prestigious events, prompting their decision to seek Uzbek citizenship.
