Moscow court jails three Uzbeks for journalist rape case

14366A Moscow court has delivered a verdict against three Uzbek citizens involved in the rape of a journalist from "Match TV" earlier this year. According to reports from "Lenta.ru," two of the defendants received 9-year prison sentences, while the third was sentenced to 4 years. All three will serve their time in a general-regime penal colony.
The prosecution initially sought 9.5-year sentences for the perpetrators.
The assault took place on the night of July 6, when the three men, aged between 22 and 25, attacked the journalist after consuming alcohol. Investigations revealed that two of the men raped the victim while the third acted as a lookout.
The suspects were apprehended on July 8, following preliminary hearings, and were charged under Article 131, Part 2, of the Russian Criminal Code, which deals with gang rape.
In a related case, a citizen of Uzbekistan was sentenced to 11 years in prison in the Chelyabinsk region for involvement in the illegal sale of narcotics.
