In Russia, an Uzbek national has been sentenced to 13 years in prison for heroin possession and trafficking. This was reported by the “Ural Insider” news agency.

According to the report, the Sverdlovsk District Court in Perm found the 25-year-old Uzbek citizen guilty of committing five crimes, including violations under Article 228 of the Russian Criminal Code (large-scale trafficking of narcotic drugs). The court sentenced him to 13 years in prison.

It was revealed that in October 2021, the individual served as a courier and packager for a criminal group. He was accused of acquiring and storing over 570 grams of heroin, which he kept in an apartment in Sverdlovsk.

During an operation, law enforcement officers apprehended the suspect. A search of his residence uncovered over 90 packages of heroin ready for sale. Taking into account the state prosecutor's position, the court sentenced the defendant to 13 years in a high-security correctional colony and imposed a fine of 250,000 rubles.

The court's verdict has not yet become legally binding, and there is an option to appeal. Additionally, the Perm Regional Prosecutor's Office has announced that the investigation into the accomplices of this crime is ongoing and has been separated into distinct legal proceedings.

It should be noted that earlier, an Uzbek national was arrested in Russia for assaulting a deputy.
