The first deputy chairman of the Oliy Sud, Robakhon Mahmudova, was relieved of his duties, as announced today, January 19, during the 49th plenary session of the Senate.
It is reported that Mahmudova was released from her role as the first deputy chairman of the Oliy Sud due to being transferred to another position. The Senate unanimously approved Mahmudova's dismissal.
For context, Robakhon Mahmudova, born in Fergana in 1968, climbed the ranks from lower courts to become a judge of the Oliy Sud. From 2017 to 2020, she served as the head of the Public Receptions of the President of Uzbekistan in the Fergana region.
In January 2020, Mahmudova was elected as a Senator of the Oliy Majlis of the Republic of Uzbekistan for the IV convocation, and she assumed the role of the chairman of the Committee on Science, Education, and Health. On July 13, 2020, the Senate of the Oliy Majlis of Uzbekistan elected Robakhon Mahmudova as the first deputy chairman of the Oliy Sud of Uzbekistan.
It is noteworthy that Mahmudova ran as a candidate in the 2023 presidential election in Uzbekistan and secured 4.43% of the votes.
